Default World Map Fog Cleared

Looking at some of my characters' maps, I'm slightly aggrivated when I want to go somewhere and I forget the precise path I used to get through an area with another character, forcing me at times to log out, log in, look at another character's map (or download one online) and then return to the other character, rather than spending 30 minutes fighting unnecessary enemies.

So, my suggestion is to remove the fog associated with undiscovered areas on the map once you have completed the game, or a specific late-game quest.

Of course, I'd expect that perhaps somewhere down the road a new town or area would be released that was previously unaccessible (think War Camp), so revealing this area wouldn't be beneficial to A.Net specifically. Also, some new players may discover towns they never visited or such that they may have more fun discovering on their own.

So, I'd further suggest doing this only for zones that have had adjacent towns discovered and quests in that area cleared. Having foggy zones would further encourage old players to backtrack to see what they forgot.

Et cetera.

well that is a good idea, but not possible. say you have a lvl 20 warrior that beat the game. youve done everything, been everywhere. now you want to make a necro. you cant possibly have your necro have the whole map to the desert unlocked and showing the towns and such when he crosses over into post searing.

just look up online a site that has maps. then just alt+tab to that browser while playing gw, then alt+tab back to guildwars whne through finding your way there.

Why not?

I like the idea.

Actually, I meant per character, not per account.

If it's only a map defog quest, I agree.
If it's not only defog but show all the cities....I have to disagree.

a few lv 3~10 in hell's precipice is funny, a dozen?? =P

As I said, only defog in zones that have found all cities in that zone and adjacent zones (usually just 2).

what if defogging was account based but map markers were still character based? wouldnt that be the best of both worlds?

I disagree with this idea. If I visit Arizona, I shouldn't magically know the layout of New Mexico just because it's nearby and I killed the Lich (or whomever else).

Maps are like the personal diary of a character. It shows where they have been. It shouldn't show anything else.

Besides, it only takes 2 seconds tops to look at a map online and get back to the game. Everyone can spare 2 seconds.

/unsigned i like exploring the same areas with different characters. because each type of character you make gives you a new way to get through an area. therefore adding to the replayability of the game.

Nope, I don't agree with this. Though, I do want ANet to change the map a bit. I want to complete my map for 100%, just like I tried in World of Warcraft, but in Guild Wars it's just impossible. Unless you walk in every map across the edge on every side of the map, you won't complete your map 100%. In World of Warcraft you got somewhere and you got a message that you discovered <name> and then it showed up on your map. It was a bit easier, but at least it was possible, unlike in Guild Wars.

Um, no. My computer takes much longer than that to open a browser, find a map and switch back. Lots of lag.

Even if it is character based instead of account I still like the idea. Not every part of the world is uncovered just by doing quests/missions. Being able to toggle on/off the fog would be great once you have done a certain quest.
